free fall

freedom looks like free fall. it lasts until someone else's will pushes against yours.

freedom looks like free fall. no dependencies on the outside world, and a free choice of how to react to whatever happens.

it lasts until someone points their will at your freedom.

to keep it, you need more will than they have. using will ends the fall. but you go on living as you choose.

freedom and will are different things:

  • freedom is being the cause of your own actions.
  • will is the ability to direct yourself toward a goal against resistance.

you can’t keep the first without spending the second. pure freedom only exists until the first push.

either we’re not gods, or we’re not free enough.
