first post on the new site.
this site is a notebook, not a portfolio of finished essays. half-formed thoughts, things i’m learning, projects while they’re still moving.
“start a blog” sat on my goals list for years, under a heading that said “stop being an impostor”. next to it: learn programming until it becomes my science, build an open-source project, make things.
writing forces clarity. if i can’t explain something in plain prose, i don’t understand it yet.
an old journal entry starts: “as usual, i don’t know where to begin or where this leads. i’m starting to think that’s a reflection of me.” this site is the fix. you begin anywhere, and the notes show where it leads.
the bar for posting is low on purpose. ten rough notes beat one polished one that never ships.
some notes here are older than the site. they are dated when i first wrote them.
text first, no clutter, just writing. stephango.com is the model.
